LEADERSHIP

Pablo Alvarez
Chairman and Publisher
Pablo is the Chairman and Publisher of The Real Estate Beige Book.
He founded the magazine in 2010, right at the tail end of the Great Recession—because who doesn’t love launching a business during a financial crisis?

Born and raised in Nicaragua, Pablo attended American University in Washington, D.C., and George Mason University in Northern Virginia.

After college, he joined the International Monetary Fund—because nothing says “fun” like global finance and economic policy.

But when his hair started making a fast exit, Pablo swapped the stressful Capital Beltway for sunny Florida—where the only thing thinning now is the beach crowd.

Marta Gonzalez-Pasos
Chief Operating Officer
Marta became COO of The Real Estate Beige Book in 2012—and has been the secret sauce behind its smooth operation ever since.

Before joining us, Marta spent 16 years navigating the halls of the Organization of American States and the Inter-American Development Bank—because managing international organizations is great practice for running a luxury real estate magazine.

Simply put: Marta is the reason this magazine runs like a well-oiled machine (and why we haven’t all fallen apart yet).

Ivan Alvarez-Baltodano
Editor-in-Chief
Ivan is the Editor-in-Chief of The Real Estate Beige Book—and a true Miami legend.

He first arrived in Miami back in 1954, probably on one of Pan Am’s iconic flying boats (because how else do you arrive in style?).
Ivan later earned a degree in Finance from the University of Notre Dame and a Master’s in Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.

Before joining the magazine, Ivan spent over 26 years as a banker—investment banker, development banker, S&L banker, and even international banker at Banco Ambrosiano in Italy. Basically, if there’s a type of banking, Ivan’s done it.

Believe it or not, Ivan is also unofficially in charge of the company’s social and psychological well-being—think of him as our in-house therapist with a knack for finance.
